Home Decoration Ideas for New Homes

You have the home of your dreams, and the only thing left is to move in.

While you probably already have furniture to bring into your new space, it’s always a good idea to get some decoration inspiration. Some people want to start from scratch when moving into a new place while others want to design a few rooms with new furnishings.

Depending on your budget you can still get a few things to make your new home truly yours. Here are a few ideas for decorating your new home.

The Bedroom

The bedroom is one of the best rooms to personalize and make truly comfortable and your own.

If there’s colour on the walls, you can choose to match or contrast with your bed sheets and decorations. Alternatively, if you’ve got white walls you can introduce colour in everything else, from lamps to bed sheets and all things in between.

When it comes to the bedroom it’s important to make sure your design choices are functional and not just for aesthetics. Sheer curtains might seem like a great idea to make the room feel more ‘dreamy’ but won’t exactly be a welcome feature come the morning when you’re trying to sleep-in.

Our solution? Dark block-out plantation shutters. You can see these in person at our Toscano Display Home at Oran Park.

Buzzfeed knows just what you need for a cozy bedroom. Some options to help you relish relaxing in your bed include a giant squishy body pillow, cuddly pillows, stuffed animals and throw and oversized blankets.

Living Room

The living room is where you can show off your style to guests. It’s important that the room has enough space for everyone, with the right mix of features and functional decorations to cater to groups of people.

The living room should have plenty of seating and placement of furniture should be optimal for socialisation. Living rooms often function as entertainment centers, where you can watch TV, play games and socialise with family and guests. Because of this, the room is usually designed around a TV or entertainment system with added functional items such as side tables and a central coffee table.

Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home. When it comes to decorating, function doesn’t have to eclipse style.

Kitchens traditionally come in neutral colors, but a splash of color can brighten the place up. You can add a wall decal to a blank wall, select a vibrant window treatment or use cookware in different hues.

A great way to make a kitchen homier is to add colour through plants and greenery. A great idea is to create a benchtop herb garden – perfect for cooking and adding a pleasant aroma to the kitchen.

These are some ideas that can inspire you when decorating your new home. The most important thing is to create a space that you love that suits you. If you want more information about design tips or taking care of your new home, contact us today.
