5 Things Customers Should Look for While doing knockdown rebuild.

Knock down rebuilds offer customers the ideal opportunity to knock down their current home and rebuild their dream home in a location they love.

A knock down rebuild project can seem overwhelming, and a knock down rebuild in Sydney even more so, considering the demolition process, zoning and permit requirements, council approvals, inspections, and certifications.

We have created this simple guide to help customers find the right knock down rebuild specialist by highlighting 5 key things to look for:

Each knock down rebuild build project is unique with its own unique requirements, challenges, and quirks which can lead to a lot of uncertainty. A seasoned and experienced knock down rebuild specialist can guide you through the process, offering practical guidance and advice based on their depth of experience and knowledge.

Many building companies offer a range of services related to knock down rebuilds in and around Sydney. However, it is essential to note that various council districts may have different requirements and limitations around these projects. Ensure that the specialist you choose is familiar with the requirements in your area, as failure to comply with local regulations can be very costly.

There are several steps involved in the knock down rebuild process; at each step, decisions must be made. Consider knock down rebuild specialists willing to manage the entire project from start to finish. Their expertise and involvement will help with the decision-making process, help keep costs down, avoid lengthy delays, and ensure that you are informed of the project’s progress along the following phases for a realistic completion date:

The existing plot needs to be levelled and cleared for the new home. The levelling entails demolishing, dismantling, and removing the debris of the current house, with all sundry structures, pipes, and wiring.

The quality of the site preparation will impact the longevity of the new build. To adequately prepare the site, all original structures must be demolished, the debris must be removed, and the site needs to be graded to provide a solid and stable foundation for the new home.

A knock down rebuild project in Sydney may attract council fees for applications and permits, which can affect the overall budget. Your specialist should have sound knowledge of the permits required and what the potential fees and costs are likely to be.

This is the point at which your dream home becomes a reality, incorporating the architectural and design elements that will turn your new build into your dream home. The rebuild brings together all the decisions and choices you made during the design phase around layout, floorplan, structural design, the quality of the materials, and the size and complexity of the build.

A broad catalogue of customisable designs Blog image middle

Planning and designing your dream home can seem like a daunting task. So, where do you even begin? Ask your knock down rebuild specialist for their catalogue of customisable design choices. Customisable design options will not only enable you to create the home of your dreams, but you will also be able to incorporate other design elements and features for a truly unique home tailored to your needs.

Builders typically have an inclusions list; these are fixtures and fittings included as standard with the rebuild. However, these lists are often not comparable, and there may be a difference in the quality and grade of the standard products used. For example, whereas one builder may offer entry-level products on their inclusions list, another builder’s list may include top-of-the-range products.
